Connect Packaging have installed their first digital printing press as part of a £750,000 investment backed by its new parent CBS Packaging, which acquired the Essex-based converter in December 2013.
Connect installed an HP Scitex FB7600 and a Kongsberg digital cutter over the summer following its sale to West Midlands-based CBS. This gives Connect Packaging unlimited capabilities when it comes to digital printing processing. We can now print cards, danglers, flyers, notepads, promotional banners and other related items.
However digital printing can be applied to a variety of materials such as glass, wood, plastic, canvas and metal which gives Connect Packaging the opportunity to evolve in the digital proofing technology.
James Newton, sales and marketing manager at Connect Packaging, said the investment was a direct result of the sale as it was CBS managing director Jitha Singh’s strategy to launch a digital printing offering.
He said: “Jitha felt that the future was very much going to be digital and that Connect, with our diversity of products and customer base, was a perfect fit – both for CBS Packaging and as a foundation to expand into the digital market.
Since installing the new digital equipment, Connect has taken on an additional two staff members, including an experienced HP Scitex FB7600 operator, and gone about marketing its new short-run service.
Connect Packaging take pride in their work. Their POS and free standing display units design meet the demands for strength, product protection, and efficient material use.
“A key to our success is that we have one of the best structural design teams who can create innovative packaging solutions,” said Newton.
The HP Scitex digital printing press is a step change for Connect and a real game-changer for their current and new customers who understand the benefits digital can offer.
